Does anyone have the story behind the red & blue rotating stripes found at barber shops?

The stripes are supposed to be red and white. Originally the barber was also the doctor and they would tie the bloody towels to the pole, in the wind the towels would wrap around the pole makeing the ';red'; stipe.
