I think out of 2nd round picks I have a choice of Portis, Gore, Jacobs, Westbrook or Barber???
I was kind of leaning towards those 2, so Barber or Gore???Marion Barber over Frank Gore?
I would lean more toward Frank Gore because the 49'ers have the 3rd easiest schedule in the NFL and the Cowboys have the 11th hardest. And if you pick Barber, you have to remember that he wont get as much running time as in previous years because Dallas has Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.
So your best option would be Frank Gore because the 49'ers dont really have any recievers, so they arent going to pass it, and they dont really have a decent back-up to Gore, in that case, Gore will play alot more than Barber.
GORE over BARBER. 100%Marion Barber over Frank Gore?
I think they are just about the same and agree with others that Gore has the advantage of being a featured back. However, I'll say Barber because he's the goal line guy and the Cowboys are going to score more often than the 49ers. Touchdowns definitely beat out yards. Mostly I agree with the last guy and would go with Brandon Jacobs out of the three. I think he'll be even stronger this year. At this point, I'd go to my bye-weeks and see which player will be available when I need him (ignoring the bye can be deadly).
I would take Gore over Barber. Barber gets banged up, and his style of running so aggressively makes him prone to injury. Barber also has Felix Jones behind him. Jones is the lightning to Barber's thunder, Barber will get more carries out of the two and all the goal line duties but Jones will see the field because he can break the long one. Martz is gone from SF and the new O coordinator wants to establish the offense on the ground. Gore is not going to share carries with anyone significant and he is money for 40 to 60 receptions a season, if your league scores points for receptions that is a huge plus.
From the two you want to choose from, I like Gore. Barber has a high injury potential but Barber is now on a team with very little talent at WR. But Gore has been a foundation of the 49er's offense for years now. I like Gore.
Question though, why not pick Portis or Jacobs over these two?
